Well done to all our swimmers who took part in the Inter-Association event at Blackpool on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May. 15 of our 10-14 yr olds joined forces with other swimmers throughout the county to form a Cumbria team and competed against 5 other associations. Although the Cumbria team finished in 6th place, it was an extremely close result with very few points separating 3rd and 6th places.
Congratulations in particular go to James Henderson who broke the county age group record for 10 year old boys 50m breaststroke, achieving a silver medal in a time of 41.06 seconds. James also gained a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke and finished 5th in the 200m backstroke.
Top 6 finishes were also achieved by: Jack Barker (5th in 100m breaststroke), Ashleigh Backhouse (5th in 200m Fly and 6th in 50m Fly), Katrina MacColl (6th in 200m freestyle) and Amy Furness (6th in 100m Backstroke).
Well done to all the other swimmers who competed, gaining several personal best times between them: Becky Livingstone, Carla McWilliams, Courtney Savage and Molly Kenwright and also to the following who qualified and attended as reserves: Paul Van Iterson, Amy Richardson, Emily Richardson, Jack Kenwright, Jordan Hull and Alix Lancaster.
