North West Speedo League - Round 2

Kendal - 10th November 2007

Well done to our Speedo League team on reaching the Division 1 Final. After finishing in 9th place overall in round 1, we needed to move up to be within the top 8 clubs after round 2, in order to clinch a place in the final at Manchester in December.

It was an extremely exciting gala, concluding in a nail-biting finish. Having been in the lead for much of the gala, we were narrowly pipped into 2nd place by only 3 points.

Other teams competing in the gala were: Ulverston, Carlisle Water Polo, Leyland Barracudas and Halton.

There were some terrific swims by our girls and boys 11/under relay teams. Both teams won their medley and freestyle relay events in style. Our older swimmers also performed extremely well in the open age group relay events, with the girls winning their freestyle and medley relay events and the boys wining their medley relay.

In the individual events, 1 st places were achieved by:

Emily Richardson (10/11 yrs 50m back and 50m breast)
Shiona Hattle (open 100m fly)
Ashleigh Backhouse (10/11 yrs 50m fly)
James Henderson (10/11 yrs 50m fly and 50m free)
Katrina MacColl (15/under 100m fly and 100m free)
Laura Huggon (open 100m back and 100m free)
Jack Richardson (10/11 50m breast)
Amy Richardson (13/under 50m fly and 50m free)
Daniel Heeley (open 100m free)

Now the results of all three division 1 galas have been confirmed, and City of Carlisle have jumped into 6th place overall, securing our place in the final at Manchester Aquatics Centre on Sunday December 9th.

Other swimmers competing at Kendal were:

Sam Wilson, Georgia Routledge, Becky Livingstone, Laura Potts, Carla McWilliams, Rebecca Watson, Mollie Kenwright, Faye Williams, Josh Little, Matthew Nicholson, George Twentyman, Alex Messenger, Matthew Kelly, Harry Twentyman, Mark Coulter, Jack Lee, Andrew Glendinning, Jack Kenwright, Charlie McSkeane, Jordan Hull.

Well done to everyone!
