Six of our swimmers took part in the Swim North-West Open Championships in Manchester on 3rd and 4th November. This was a Grade 1 (High level) meet which saw some great swims by all of our swimmers over the weekend .
There were brilliant swims by Katrina MacColl in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle (14 years age group).
Laura Huggon had a fantastic swim in the 50m backstroke and finished 2nd in the final with a time of 32.56 and came 3rd in the 100m backstroke final in 1.09.37. Overall she was in 2nd place in the junior category (16 years age group).
Shiona Hattle reached the final of the 100m freestyle with a time of 1.01.51 and came a credible 8th place. George Twentyman also swam very well in the 50m and 100m butterfly and 50m and 100m Freestyle gaining PBs in the freestyle. Matthew Nicholson also achieved PBs in the breaststroke, reaching the final of the 100m event in a time of 1.14.06, then in the final another PB of 1.13.08. He was overall 3rd in the junior category and 5th overall in the Open Age.
Finally Dan Heeley was competing in the 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m and 100m freestyle, making the 50m Freestyle Open Final with an excellent swim of 25.44 (a PB) which gained him an NQT (National Qualifying Time). A superb achievement by Dan.
