Well done to 6 of our swimmers who competed at the 2008 North West Region Youth Championships in Liverpool on 3rd and 4th May. The competition took place in the newly opened 50m pool at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre:

Amy Richardson, Carla McWilliams and Laura Huggon (competing for Penrith)
Our swimmers qualified for several finals between them:
George (2), Daniel (5), Matthew (3), Laura (5). Well done also to Carla who was reserve finalist for the 50m backstroke.
George took the silver medal in the men’s 15-16 year old 50m butterfly in a time of 28.33. Daniel gained a bronze medal in the men’s 17-18 yrs 50m backstroke (29.60) and Matthew also took home a bronze medal in the men’s 15-16 yrs 100m breaststroke, finishing in a fantastic personal best time of 1:10.98.
Laura took home 3 medals in the following women’s 16-17 yrs events: gold in the 50m backstroke (36.29), silver in the 100m backstroke (1.09.86) and bronze in the 50m freestyle (28.99).
